Assistant Principal

With over thirteen years of invaluable experience, Yamilis (Yami) Cruz has served as both a classroom teacher and instructional coach, passionately embodying her belief in the transformative power of education. Yami holds a Bachelor’s degree in English Education, a Master’s degree in Reading Education, and a Specialist (CAGS) degree in Educational Leadership. Originally from Miami, Florida, and fluent in both English and Spanish, Yami became a part of the Salem community approximately three years ago. In addition to her academic achievements, she is deeply involved in community service, volunteering with Salem Main Streets and the Salem Pantry. Furthermore, she actively contributes to the city’s Scholarship and Education Committee.Yami is thrilled to bring her leadership skills and community engagement to BAIS, eagerly anticipating fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where every student feels valued and empowered to succeed.
